Lots of Show News

Checkered House will be participating in the Intuit Show which is currently scheduled for April 27-30th at the Merchandise Mart in downtown Chicago. More details to follow.....

Also, Jan 26th-28th is not only the Outsider Art show in New York but also...Kimball Sterling's semi-annual Huge Outsider Art Auction! Details are posted on his website www.sterlingsold.com. There are always incredible pieces from unique estates and I hear they are particularly attractive this time. So, if you have to be at the show, you might want to have a computer with you! You can bid on line or live!

Angels Cross All Lines

It seems lately as though I have heard a lot about angels from the religious, the nonreligious, all ages and types of people. I was thinking about this as I was creating a slightly holiday like page this year, deciding to focus on angels. They seems to give some sort of peace to those in need or just those looking to add a little holiday spirit to their homes. They transcend religion and therefore seem appropriate for this gallery to feature at the holidays. We have angels from Paul Flack, Theresa Disney, Patti Bryan and others. So, if you are looking to add some artwork to your home with a little bit of a spiritual feel but not a religious one, maybe an angel would be right for you.....

Patti Bryan

Please take the time to see our new artist, Patti Bryan. The page is actually still under construction and will be finished on Monday, but there are a couple of works featured. Patti's works of art are clay busts with great big personalities that just emerge from the clay.

New Way to See Art

Hello everyone! I have just started a partnership with a tremendous spiritual healing and yoga studio here in Evanston, IL. The studio is "Heaven Meets Earth" and I will be assisting Lisa Weber (owner) in purchasing. In the meantime, we are rotating some artwork in the studio so if you are unable to schedule a visit to my home to see our latest works, please come by the studio or visit us on line.

You can visit Lisa's site at www.heavenmeetsearthyoga.com

Fall News from the gallery

It has been a while since my last post...a very busy Fall season. We have had some good events, a great many new works added to the gallery and some new artists.

From Kim Clayton: She is our new featured artist. Kim has some new works at the gallery and she is doing quite a bit with photo collages. She uses images from places she has been and then expands upon those images with beautiful artistry. See her new works on our site.

From Theresa Disney: Theresa has quite a few new pieces in the gallery as of late. We had been selling some of her beautiful and large floral paintings so we have added some smaller ones and a few new unique large pieces as well. Check out the painting of the bottle of champagne...really wonderful.

From Ab: We have three new free form flags from Ab which are all different in size and unique in design. He is just coming off of a successful event in NYC and is playing with his band in Atlanta.

We just had an event with HOW again a few weeks ago as they hosted an open house for their new space. If you are interested in getting involved with a really wonderful non-profit dedicated to helping women and children find housing, this is the one!

Out of Town

We will be closed for the next two weeks, returning on August 11th for business. We have some personal matters to attend to. If you are interested in any works, either email me and I will get back to you immediately upon my return or please leave a message at 847-328-2918.

New from John Unger

We just added some new works from John Unger. He has been doing some really fun metal work and he has been working with his daughter who is staying with him this summer. She is very talented as well. They make a great team with some really fun things going on. For instance, they have done a whole series based on nursery rhymes. I actually bought "The Three Little Pigs" for the gallery so you can see it under John's works. He continues to sell his fire bowls which we also recently bought for our personal use.
